Born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Truth immigrated to the U.S. in 1977 with his parents at the age of 4. Growing up in 7th Ward New Orleans, LA, Truth learned early lessons of respect, discipline, and perseverance from his working-class Caribbean upbringing.

He was exposed to large amounts of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Jazz and R&B at a very early age, and as the years passed, he and all of his friends became heavily involved in hip-hop. At age 9, his family moved to the New Orleans East 9th Ward, and Truth began to immerse himself in the multiple roles of B-Boy, DJ, Producer and emcee. Over time he would become an energetic showman, with veteran stage presence and crowd control, and would amass many live shows across the US with seasoned performers from all genres of music.

In early 2006 Truth approached Paris with his work-in-progress debut album project Decolonization, and quickly became a member of the Guerrilla Funk family. Fully embodying Truth Universal's social and political awareness, the album is a tour de force which showcases his DIY attitude and his West Indian and New Orleans backgrounds.

Decolonization is due in stores early 2007.
