T-KASH is the Truth.
After honing his skills on Bay Area revolutionary hip-hop group The
Coup's projects Steal This Album, Steal This Double Album and
Party Music, T-KASH is set to unleash his magnum opus, Turf War Syndrome, on a world now weary of
commercialized gangsta fables and the prostitution of hip-hop.
Featuring production work by industry-veteran and fellow revolutionary
hip-hop artist Paris, Turf War
Syndrome employs verbal assistance from both The Coup
and Paris, among others, and stands as a project that promises to
play an essential role in the resurgence of quality hip-hop.
"I'm not just a rap artist, I am a product of the hip-hop
industry," said T-KASH, who grew up in Oakland, California, and
directly experienced the sharp rise and fall of Bay Area rap. "The
elements of the industry raised me as an artist."
With an extensive knowledge of west coast hip-hop, T-KASH has been
working closely with Bay Area radio show legend Davey D for over
seven years at KPFA in Berkeley, CA. It is through his weekly
appearances on
The Friday Nite Vibe that he developed a cult
following, as many of his listeners not only take comfort in his raw and
truthful lyrics, but also in the fact that he holds an active position
in non-commercial radio. It was there that he first came to the
attention of Paris, who signed him to Guerrilla Funk Recordings shortly
after hearing a portion of his debut project.
T-KASH's talents as a lyrist and radio host have gained him the
attention of national publications The Source, Vibe, and
Murder Dog Magazine, who, in 2002, heralded his rhymes on the
title track of the Straight Outta Hunters Point soundtrack by
stating, "This is what people mean when they are talking about
reality rap...he's servin' up heat for real...that's real talk."
Indeed. Another Hard Truth Soldier is born.
With a fierce focus on musical quality and content, and with the
guidance of a seasoned team of industry veterans, T-KASH is set to do
serious damage.
