We have been hearing about the so-called
“Operation Nutcracker” which aims to "extract
any element from the community that possesses the potential
to destabilize the correct balance in the social order"
through the use of U.S. military forces, the FBI, ATF, CIA,
U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security, and local law enforcement
authorities.
American society is operating at a
level of fear never seen before. And its possible that such
drastic action such as calling in the military to sweep suspected
gang bangers off the street will make this city a police state.
Now, with the passing of HR 1279, it appears that this is
the direction we are going. On May 12, the House of Representatives
passed its own punitive, race-biased legislation, once again
making mandating mandatory-minimum sentences aimed at street
gangs.
Under the so-called "Gangbusters
Bill" (HR 1279), a sentence of at least 10 years would
be required for an act of violence; at least 20 years for
serious assaults; and at least 30 years for kidnapping, aggravated
sexual abuse or maiming; and life imprisonment or the death
penalty for any crime resulting in death, including acts committed
by juveniles.
"We are at the threshold of annihilation
because of the destructive forces at work in our community,"
the Greater Los Angeles Neighborhood Stabilization Council
(GLANSC) warns in its introduction of "Operation Nutcracker.”
Do we need the military, though? What
are our cities coming to?
