Paris - Acid Reflex
By Thomas Quinlan, Urbnet.com, October 22, 2008

Just in time for the elections in the U.S., Paris steps up with a new album of political commentary. For those familiar with Paris, you won't find many surprises. Fully self-produced, Acid Reflex features Paris' thick bass-heavy guerrilla funk that can provide backing for fist pumping anthems one song and mellow drama the next. Of course Paris takes time to tear George W. Bush a new one, but he also relates some emotional stories, drops knowledge on the current state of the music business alongside Chuck D, and gives some great insight into the existence of gangs and gang violence while attempting to convert them to a better cause. Acid Reflex is unlikely to change the outcome of the upcoming election, but maybe - just maybe - it might change the lives of a handful of misguided hip hop youth, and do so while remaining funky fresh with the seal of approval from funk godfather George Clinton (who appears on an epic remix of opening track "Don't Stop The Movement").
